Learning to Talk: Using powerful conversations to manage poor performance

Outline

Be honest – could you do with some assistance in managing poor performance in your team? In your organisation? Surveys of both managers and staff tell us that this is perhaps the most difficult task of a manager. Is this true of your organisation? What would be the impact of having a management team comfortable with addressing poor performance as and when it is needed? Well then, let’s make it easier to do so.

We are often reluctant to address performance issues because it means confronting both the issue and the person involved. We shy away from confrontation and tend to either be too blunt in our approach, too abrasive, or perhaps not clear enough, hiding the real issues. The first approach builds resentment, the second leaves the employee very confused. Neither approach is likely to resolve performance problems.

In this workshop we will talk about performance communication, and how to make it safe to talk about any issues with your staff. We will discuss how to turn ordinary communication with your staff into powerful conversations that build engagement and leave both of you motivated and ready for action. During the talk, you will be given the 10 secrets of performance communication that will lift performance and produce results.
